Services for Veta Leon McCord Burns, 87, of Canton, were held Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at the Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating. 

Burial was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park. 

Mrs. Burns died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at her home in Canton. 

She was born Nov. 27, 1928, in the High Community to Howell Elmo and Ottie Marie Norman McCord. 

She was a member of the Tundra Baptist Church.  She worked for Van Zandt County in various positions and retired as district court clerk.  She enjoyed traveling and having her family at her home. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Buck Burns; infant son, Jimmy Steven Burns; parents; brother, Kenneth Ray McCord; and her sister, Mattie Belle Kinney. 

She is survived by her daughter, Veta Diane Burns Poole of Canton; son, Bryan Paul Burns and wife Candice of Canton; daughter, Carol Lynn Burns Beal and husband, Rollin of Canton; three grandchildren, Cody Burns, Andrea Manry and Rachel Gilbert; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Manry, Hannah Manry, Gabriel Gilbert, and Mattie Burns; two sisters, Jo Marie Marvin and Wanda Fae Westmoreland.
