Funeral services for Jimmy Don Newman, 52, of Dallas, formerly of Edgewood, were held Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with the Rev. Gary Newman officiating.  Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood.

Mr. Newman died early Friday morning, April 8, 2016, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 21, 1963, in Edgewood, the son of Jimmy Newman and Mary Francis Hutchins Newman.  He was raised in Edgewood and graduated from Edgewood High School as salutatorian in 1982.  He later attended North Texas State University in Denton.  He was formerly employed by a courier service and a surveying company.  He lived at Key West prior to moving to Dallas.  He enjoyed music and playing the guitar.  He was a member of North Ridge Baptist Church in Edgewood.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Francis Newman; and his sister, Cathey Newman.

He is survived by his father, Jimmy Newman and wife, Yuleta of Edgewood; and sister, Shirley Alexander, of Lindale.

Pallbearers were Danny Whitfield, Dylan Wheeler, Eddie Thurston, Ken Swindall, Jesse Valentine and Neal Travis.
