Ison settles into constable’s office
Jesse Ison
Jesse Ison describes himself as a “preacher’s kid” and is also the new constable in Precinct 2 of Van Zandt County.
Ison also conveys a deep compassion for people, and said that treating others how you want to be treated is a good model to follow, even while serving in law enforcement.
Ison spent his youth in Bardwell, Ky., and at the age of 12, his family moved to Forney and then to Rockwall where his father was a minister.
He is a graduate of Terrell Christian Academy. After graduation, he joined the Marine Corps where he worked in aviation ordinance. Ison said part of his job was to work on F-18 planes and he spent eight years in the military.
After his time in the Marine Corps, Ison and family moved to Canton. Ison is married to his wife, Sandy, and has three children, Patience, 21, Pleasant, 20 and Nate, 5.
“I was still in the Marines when we had our first two children. It was like having twins the hard way. Five years ago, we had our son Nate. We call him Nate the Great,” said Ison.
