Services for James Boyd McFerrin, 79, of Canton were held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Lakeside Baptist Church in Canton, with Bro. Carlton Young officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.  Interment followed in Haven of Memories.
Mr. McFerrin passed away Jan. 4, 2017, in Tyler. He was born July 15, 1937, in Westminster to Isom Calvin and Annis Lee Gentry McFerrin. 
He was a member of the Lakeside Baptist Church and the Son Shine Bible Class. He graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. with a bachelor’s degree in math. He married Virginia Roberts June 27, 1959. Mr. McFerrin proudly served in the Army in Korea. He worked as a systems analyst for Chrysler for 18 years and retired from Baker Hughes in Houston after 22 years. He and Virginia moved to Canton in 2003. 
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Virginia McFerrin of Canton; three sons, James McFerrin II and wife, Monique of Georgetown, John Mark McFerrin and wife, Maria Rossana of Magnolia, and Steven McFerrin of Boynton Beach, Fla.; daughter, Caroyl Gilbert and husband, Benny of Missouri City; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Michael McFerrin and wife, Cathy of Edmond, Okla.
Pallbearers were Joshua McFerrin, Zackery McFerrin, Shawn McFerrin, Matthew Robinson, Kyle Roberts, Russell Roberts and Brady Roberts.
