Eaglettes turn back Lady Panthers

The Canton Eaglettes and Van Lady Vandals were scheduled to meet for the second time this season in Van Jan. 31.

The Canton Eaglettes suffered an uncharacteristic loss last week, suffering a rare letdown in a narrow loss to the Emory Rains Lady Cats Jan. 24. Canton began its week struggling to find a rhythm against Rains at home, mounting a furious rally in the fourth quarter to fall 53-52 against the Lady Cats.
Emory Rains was nearly unstoppable during the first quarter offensively, taking a surprising 17-11 lead over Canton. The margin remained six-points heading into the half as each team scored 13 points in the second quarter.
The Lady Cats appeared to be poised for a runaway win in the third quarter, adding five points to their lead to hold a 44-33 lead with eight minutes to play.
The Eaglettes mounted a furious fourth quarter rally to pull close only to see Rains hang on for a 53-52 win over the home team.
