Eaglettes improve to 7-2 in district

The Canton Eaglettes continued their push to the 2017 UIL State Basketball Playoffs last week, adding impressive wins over both Van and Brownsboro to their resume in District 13-4A play.
Canton and Van clashed for the second time this season in Van Jan. 31 with the Eaglettes getting the better of their in-county rival to the tune of 74-37.
The game between Van and Canton was highly competitive in the first half as Canton took a 22-11 lead in the first quarter.
The Lady Vandals fought back in the second quarter, chipping three points off Canton's lead to trail 31-23 entering the half.
Momentum shifted dramatically in the third quarter as Canton reeled off a 24-1 stretch to put the game out of reach in a hurry. The Eaglettes closed out play by outscoring Van 19-13, finishing off the 74-37 victory over their chief rival.
