Memorial services for Kenneth (Keny) Wayne Hughes, 57, Canton, were held Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home.  He left this earth for his heavenly home, Saturday, April 29, 2017.

He was born Aug. 21, 1959, in Greenville to Bobby D. Hughes and Gloria Jean Boyd. He grew up in Charleston and was a member of East Delta Baptist Church. He attended Cooper School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart Cheryl Abston Hughes Jan. 15, 1977, at First Baptist Church in Cooper. Always true sweethearts, their marriage lasted 40 years, 3 months, and 14 days. They lived in Charleston, Cooper and Wills Point before settling on their farm outside of Canton. Their daughter Heather Rae was born July 6, 1984.

He worked for Morton Salt in Grand Saline for the past 18 years. He was a very talented man and could do just about anything including building their home and teaching himself to play the guitar. He had lots of interests such as hunting, camping, bicycle and motorcycle riding, listening to the blues, reading and going to the beach with his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and half-sibling, Tommy Hughes.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; daughter and son-in-law, Heather Rae and Michael Pierce; grandchildren, Cooper and Emma Pierce, all from Canton; sister, Cindy McPherson and husband, Robert of Peerless; and half-siblings, Don, Sandra and Aaron Hughes.
