Arleta Still

1926-2017

Services for Arleta Still, 91, of Canton, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Canton with Pastor Mark Huston officiating.

 Interment will be in Haven of Memories. Mrs. Still passed away July 6, 2017, in Quitman.

She was born June 25, 1926, in Clinton, Iowa to Philip A. and Beatrice Lucille Smith Slocumb.

She grew up in Quincy, Ill. and moved to Dallas with her family in 1956. She worked at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas for many years. After she retired, she moved to Canton. A devout Lutheran her whole life, she was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Canton where she taught the Women’s Bible Study and the Christian Leadership with LWML for many years. She was an avid reader and gifted quilter and embroiderer.

Mrs. Still is preceded in death by her husband, Everett L. Still; son, Dennis L. Still; parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by her two daughters, Karen Roberts of Dallas and Linda Connell of Mineola; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Mike Childers, Troy Childers, Bobby Childers, Jack Slocumb and Todd Slocumb.

Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran in Canton or Emanuel Lutheran in Dallas.
