Billy Paul Hindman, 86, of Granbury died Thursday, June 9, 2016, in Granbury.  Funeral service was held Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.  Interment was Monday, June 13, 2016, in Small Cemetery in Edgewood.

Mr. Hindman was born March 11, 1930, in Edgewood to Ira and Nancy Hindman.  He had lived in Granbury since 1974 and built homes in and around Granbury.  He was a Hella Shriner for 50 years, a member of Edgewood Lodge, Scottish Rite and the masonic Lodge.  He enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting.  He attended Acton Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, R.C. Hindman and L.V. Hindman Jr. and sister, Inez Fisher.

Mark E. Tracey, 52, of Canton, formally of Oakton, Va., died June 21, 2016, in Canton. Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.

Mr. Tracey was born July 4, 1963, in Washington D.C. to James and Paula Tracey.

He married Barbara Harris on Oct. 31, 2008.

He was a well-known auto mechanic and owner of the Baron-Cameron Service Center in Herndon, Va. After moving to Canton, he started Mark’s Auto Repair and was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors.

Services for Joyce G. Adkins Sloan, 89, of Grand Saline, were held June 24, 2016, at Bartley Funeral Home with Kyle White officiating. 

Interment was in Woodside Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sloan died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, in Canton.  She was born on Oct. 11, 1926, to Jule A. and Claudia G. Riggs Adkins. 

She was a member of the Grand Saline Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Grand Saline. She graduated third in her class from Grand Saline High School in 1943.  She attended Rutherford Business School in Dallas and obtained her first job at Moshee Steel Company on Maple Avenue in Dallas.

Services for Eva Carroll Townsend, 91, of Canton, were held June 25, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with the Rev. James Nickell officiating.

Graveside services were held at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

Mrs. Townsend died June 23, 2016, in Tyler.

She was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Odell  to George and Theatus Jarman Davis.

She was a longtime member of Little Hope Baptist Church where she served in the nursery, with vacation Bible school, and on the hospitality committee. She was raised in Canton where she graduated from Canton High School in 1941.

She married her husband, Tillery Townsend, in June 1941 and they raised their family in Carrollton.

 They retired to Canton in 1971 where they built their home on family land.

Donald Joe Patterson, 64, passed away at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital inTyler, in the Heart Hospital, on June 22, 2016, with his loving wife Jackie Patterson at his bedside.

In lieu of a funeral, a celebration of Mr. Patterson’s life was held June 25, 2016.

Cremation will take place at Hillard Funeral Home, 386 N Maple St, Van.

Mr. Patterson was born Dec. 15, 1951, in Wichita Falls, to Wayne and Mary Patterson. The family relocated to Dallas in the 1960s. He was active in the ROTC at Bryan Adams High School. As a US Army veteran, he served during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany.

Mr. Whitton was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who left our world suddenly June 20, 2016, at his home in Keller.

He was born in the Whitton Community of Van Zandt County on March 3, 1943, to Burney and Leo Whitton.

Memorial services for Haskell “Hack” Logan Willeford, 76, of Canton, are scheduled for 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church in Canton with Pastor Jon Thornsbury, Pastor Jim Pickens, Chaplain Denny Burris and Chaplain Elaine Maddox officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. The Dallas Fire Department Last Bell Service will be at the Van Zandt Country Club following the memorial service.

Mr. Willeford passed away June 9, 2016, in St. Ignace, Michigan. He was born April 21, 1940, in Delano, California to Henry and Johnie Lowrance Willeford.

Private services were held for Tom Perry, 48, of Canton, June 12, 2016. 

He died June 8, 2016, in Tyler, at the Hospice of East Texas.  

Mr. Perry was born May 26, 1968, in Memphis, Tenn. to Thomas and Erika Perry.

He worked for 10 years as the animal control officer for the City of Canton. He previously worked as a chef for the Kentucky State Park system and was twice selected as a chef to cook breakfast at the Kentucky Derby.

He loved fishing, hunting, painting vehicles, and his five dogs.  He moved from Tennessee in 2003 and made Canton his home.  He loved to cook and shared his talent by cooking for friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his father.

Services for Tim Ellis, 62, of Canton, were held June 17, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Mark Robinson and Bro. Ronnie Daniell officiating. 

Interment was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

Mr. Ellis died June 13, 2016, in Tyler.

He was born  Oct. 28, 1953, in Waxahachie to Gilbert and Jewell Trull Ellis.

He grew up in Waxahachie where he attended school. He was the Past Master and life-long member of Castillian Masonic Lodge #141 for 27 years. His gas station was the center point of the community for 30 years. He loved visiting with travelers and friends as well as dancing, singing and playing bass for High Spirits.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Johnny Ellis.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at Bedrock Event Center in Grand Saline from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday June 25, 2016 for Samantha Christine Fuller, 19, of Omaha, formerly of Fruitvale. Miss Fuller died Monday, June 6, 2016 in Longview.

She was born to Layla Kvapil Fuller and Jason Fuller in Terrell.  Sam spent her early childhood years in Van Zandt County, attending school in Fruitvale and Edgewood. She graduated from Paul Pewitt High School in 2015.  She was currently a full time student at NTCC and worked for Super One Foods. She was loved by all who knew her, loved life and her family and friends. She was looking forward to her upcoming marriage to Joshua Goins.
