1926-2016

O.J. Rogers, age 90, of Emory, died May 18, 2016, at Wesley House in Sulphur Springs.

Graveside service was held May 21, 2016, at Lake Fork Cemetery in Emory.

O.J. was born Jan. 16, 1926 in Electra.

Michael Barker

1950-2016

Services for Michael H. Barker, 65, of Mt. Pleasant, were held May 23, 2016, at Central Pentecostal Church with Bro. Garvin Pulley and Bro. Mack Swain officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Grand Saline.

Interment was in Shields Cemetery.

Mr. Barker died May 20, 2016, in Mt. Pleasant.  He was born July 28, 1950, in Dallas.

Luella Sides

1937-2016

Services for Luella Charlene Nelson Sides, 78, of Grand Saline, were held May 22, 2016, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Homer Morgan officiating. 

Interment was in Woodside Cemetery.

Mrs. Sides died May 19, 2016, in a Grand Saline nursing home.  She was born Dec. 8, 1937, in Oklahoma.

Joanne Davis

1969-2016

Services for Joanne Marie Gabel Davis, 46, of Grand Saline, were held May 23, 2016, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Homer Morgan officiating.

Mrs. Davis died May 19, 2016.  She was born June 21, 1969, in Livermore, Calif., to Robert and Anna O’Reilly Gabel.  She spent her early years in Plano, five years in California, two years in Forney, and then the last two and one half years in Grand Saline. 

She was a homemaker. 

She was preceded in death by her mother.

James Ray Brand

1961-2016

Services for Mr. James Ray Brand, 55, of Fruitvale, were held May 25, 2016, at Riverside Mission Church with Bro. Donnie Herring and Bro. Ronnie Wheeler officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Grand Saline. 

Interment was in Starr Cemetery.

Mr. Brand passed away May 21, 2016, in a Tyler hospital.  He was born March 7, 1961, in Terrell.

Frances Ainsworth

1923 – 2016

Frances Ruth “Frankie” Ainsworth, 92, of Emory, died Friday, May 13, 2016, at Senior Suite Care and Rehab. 

She was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Point.

Charles Clements

1927-2016

Graveside services for Charles Presley Clements, 88, of Springtown were held May 21, 2016, at Malakoff City Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Mr. Clements died May 17, 2016, in Springtown. 

He was born June 12, 1927, in Imboden, Ark.

Robert Jones

1932-2016

Robert Ray Jones, 84, was born Jan. 2, 1932, in Edgewood to Leaborn V. and Lois Audrey Lay Jones. 

He died May 10, 2016, in Garland.

Robert graduated from Edgewood High School in 1949. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and his community, where he was on the Garland Police force for several years, leaving as a lieutenant in 1972.

He coached the Texans in the Garland Pee Wee Football league; owned and operated Bob Jones Auto Repair; and was a proud 50-plus year member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leaborn and Audrey Lois; his daughter Christy Renee DeNigris; his sister and her husband Betty Jo and Kenneth Sims; his brother-in-law Billy Archer; and the mother of his children, Grace Elvadean.

Marjorie Coleman

1928-2016

Marjorie Inez (Margie) Coleman was born on Aug. 9, 1928, in Binger, Okla., to Mary Elizabeth (Neff) Pearce and Frank James Pearce.

(She was an avid Mickey Mouse fan and collector because he was created in 1928, too!)

Mrs. Coleman spent most of her childhood in Raymondville before moving to the Texas Hill Country in her early teens. She attended schools in Kerrville, graduating from Tivy High School in 1945. After high school graduation, she began studies on her nursing degree at Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio. 

On July 6, 1946, she married her husband of almost 70 years, Albert Morris Coleman. The following year, their daughter Beverly was born. She reveled in her home life, but continued to work on her nursing degree whenever she had the chance. 

Lee Roy Morris

1924-2016

Services for Lee Roy Morris, 92, of Wills Point were held May 12, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel in Canton.

Mr. Morris died May 9, 2016, in Grand Saline.

He was born March 3, 1924, in Wills Point to William W. and Lucy Evans Morris.

He served his country in World War II. He was a carpenter and a farmer. He enjoyed truck farming, raising cattle and fishing.

He married his precious wife on Dec. 1, 1951.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma Inez Morris; and son, Junior Morris.
