Florence Horsman

1935-2015

Graveside services for Florence Ann Horsman, 79, of Rowlett, were held Dec. 5, 2015, at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton with Bro. Larry Page officiating under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.

Ms. Horsman died Nov.28, 2015, in Rowlett.

She was born Dec. 22, 1935, in Wills Point to Ruben and Margie Courtney.

She grew up in Wills Point. She became a bookkeeper and worked for DFW Insulation.  During her career, she met many interesting clients.  She enjoyed gardening, any outdoor activity and fast cars.  When possible, she enjoyed trips to the beach and to the mountains, but most of all she treasured spending time with her family and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Don Courtney; sister, Jackie Miller; and stepfather, Wade Marney.

Bettye Culberson

1936-2015

Funeral services for Bettye Jane Culberson were held Dec. 8, 2015, at First United Methodist Church of Emory, with the Rev. David Diller and Katrina Culberson officiating. 

Interment followed in Dougherty Cemetery. She died Dec. 4, 2015, at U.T. Southwestern in Dallas.  She was born Dec. 3, 1936.

Wanda Sue Straughan

1941-2015

Graveside services for Wanda Sue Straughan, 74, of Gun Barrel, were held Nov. 24, 2015, at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

Mrs. Straughan died Nov. 20, 2015, in Gun Barrel.

She was born in March, 31, 1941, in Dallas.

She is survived by a son, Charles Brent McAnally of Gun Barrel; son, Ronald Shane McAnally of Gun Barrel; two grandchildren, Haley Shea McAnally and Russell Shane McAnally; and two great- grandchildren, Hudson and Bryson. 

Paula McMillon

1932-2015

A celebration of life for Paula Nell McMillon, 83, of Canton, was held Nov. 28, 2015, at Paula’s home in Canton.  She will be placed beside her husband, Mr. Lloyd McMillon in Florida at a later date.

On Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, she was given her angel wings surrounded by her family and friends. 

Mrs. McMillon was born Aug. 12, 1932, in Island, Ky

Linda Anderson

1947-2015

Services for Linda Diane Anderson, 68, of Grand Saline, were held Dec. 1, 2015, at Main Street Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Smilie officiating. Interment was in Creagleville Cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson died Nov. 26, 2015, in Tyler. 

She was born May 18, 1947, in Fruitvale, to J.R. and Mary Helen Bodie Hazel.  She spent most all of her life in Van Zandt County where she was a homemaker and a member of Main Street Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Hazel; and brother, Richard Hazel.

Herman Bryant

1927-2015

Funeral service for Herman “Bud” D. Bryant, of Emory, 88, was held Nov. 25, 2015, at the Church of Christ in Emory.  Burial followed in Emory City Cemetery.

Mr. Bryant died Nov. 22, 2015, at Wesley House Assisted Living in Sulphur Springs.

He was born July 24, 1927, in Point.

Dovie Akin

1919-2015

Services for Dovie Mae Akin, 96, of Van were held Nov. 27, 2015, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Lester Foreman officiating.  Interment was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

Mrs. Akin died Nov. 24, 2015, in Van.  She was born on June 1, 1919, in Colfax to Marion and Lorene Blakely Phillips.

She was Pentecostal by faith. She grew up and lived in the Canton and Colfax area. She lived the past 45 years in Van. She was a cook and medication aide at Van Health Care for many years. She enjoyed writing poems and songs. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie George Akin; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Danny Ray

1959-2015

Services for Danny Lee "Beaver" Ray, 56, Hawkins, were held Nov. 23, 2015, at Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline, with Bro. Donnie Herring and Sister Delana Wheeler officiating.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Ray died Nov. 20, 2015, in Tyler.  

Carolyn Owens

1941-2015

Services for Carolyn “Kacky” Carroll Owens, 74, of Fruitvale, were held Nov. 24, 2015, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, with Bro. Carl McCann officiating.  

Interment will be in Haven of Memories Memorial Park.  Interment was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park.

She died Nov. 21, 2015, in Grand Saline.            

She was born Aug. 28, 1941, in Kemp, Okla. to Lowell and Jo Emma Bone.

She was a member of the Church of Christ, The Eastern Star and the Fruitvale ISD School Board. She worked as an abstractor for over 25 years. She loved reading and crocheting. She was a softball fan who loved watching her grandchildren play sports.
