Mary Louise Curtis, 78, of Canton passed away Sept. 16, 2015, in Canton. 

Mrs. Curtis was born April 9, 1937, to James and Evelyn Altmeyer in Los Angeles, Calif.  She served in the United States Navy as a Navy photographer and printer.  She headed up the Navy Drum and Bugle Corp and served as the drum major in the U.S. Navy Band. 

While serving in the Navy, she met and married the love of her life, Charles Curtis in 1958.  She worked for many years at Lockheed Aircraft before moving to Texas.  Their family moved to Canton in 1976, where they raised their five children.

Mrs. Curtis is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles Curtis of Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Carl Caldwell of Buna; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Brian Tears of The Colony; son and daughter-in-law, David and Judy Curtis of Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and David Edwards of Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Phillip Matthews of Canton; sisters, Jenny Verga of California and Katy Merchandante of Utah; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Word of Victory Church.
