The Neches River Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution paid homage to veterans at its meeting held Nov. 12.

Special recognition was given to veterans who served at any time during the Vietnam era which spanned from 1955 to 1975.

Regent Sherrie Archer presented pins designed for this remembrance to the veterans in attendance and thanked them for their service and their sacrifice.

Pastor David McNary of Pruitt Baptist Church in Van showed slides he made while serving in Vietnam as a chaplain’s assistant.  He shared some of his experiences and told members and guests of the things that “got him through” until he returned home.  Those things included a flag, his family and his Bible.

Membership in Daughters of the American Revolution is open to any woman 18 or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
