Canton Herald – June 2, 1960: 

Highway patrolman Kenneth Tidwell of Grand Saline arrested two men for driving while intoxicated over the weekend. The arrests were made on Highway 80 near Grand Saline. The arrested were placed in the county jail.

Canton Farm Products Company announces the opening of a retail feed department according to Harold L. Stephens, Manager. The new firm is located one block south on the street between G. W. Oil Company and L & W Chevrolet Company.  They will handle top-quality Kimball feed products. There egg buying station is now in operation at this location. Prices are based on the Chicago market. They are paying top prices for feeder pigs.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Wilson, 25, were held Thursday afternoon at four clock and Eubank Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bobby Allen officiating. Interment was in Haven of Memories under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home. Mrs. Wilson was born Nov. 11, 1934 at Cedar Point, Ark. She passed away May 25, in a Dallas hospital. She was a member of the Eastern Hill Baptist Church in Garland. On Sept. 8, 1900 she was married to Cozel Wilson.

Cradle Roll-Sandra, Diane and Vicki Paschal announced the arrival of a baby sister, Arlene, born May 11. Parents are Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Paschal. Grandparents are Mrs. Anna Paschal of Terrell and Floyd Hubbard of Austin.

Russell Eubanks says he’s going over the weekend for a little fishing at Lake Murray in Oklahoma so if you are planning on dying, let him know ahead of time so he can make arrangements.

Airman Third Class Dan C. Leach, who has just completed the air policeman course, Department of Air Police Training, 275th Technical School, USAF at Lackland Air Force Base is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Leach before taking up duties at Puerto Rico. Airman Leach is a 1957 graduate of Edgewood High School and has been in the Air Force since January 1960.
