The Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Barrett of the Edgewood, who were married June 19, 1910, will be honored by their children Sunday on their Golden Wedding Anniversary with an open house at their home from 2:30 to 5:30 o’clock. They were born and reared in the Edgewood community. Mrs. Barrett is the former Rittie Pickens, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Pickens and Rev. Barrett is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Barrett. They were married at the home of Rev. M. W. Hitt in the Small Community with Willie Hindman, Miss. Mary Milesand and Mrs. M. W. Hitt as witnesses.  Rev. Barrett, better known in Edgewood and surrounding area as Brother Ed was ordained as a Baptist preacher Sept. 16, 1916, and has pastored approximately twelve churches during his minister ministry. He retired the early part of 1960 from pastoring a regular church and is an interim pastor for the Garden Valley Baptist Church of Smith County some of the churches he has pastored are Fruitvale, Small, Silver Lake, Little Hope, Turner, Cana, Friendship, Lawrence Springs, Blue Springs and Pisgah he has married all about 231 couples and has held approximately 1,500 funerals.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Dusky Kellam were held Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the first Baptist Church with Rev. Donald C. Brown, pastor, officiating.  Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Hilliard funeral home. Mrs. Kellam was born July 7, 1885, in the Providence community in Smith County, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George M. Hilliard.  She passed away at 8 o’clock Thursday morning, June 9, in a Dallas hospital. She was a lifelong member of the first Baptist Church in Canton. She was married to Dr. A. J. Kellam on May 6, 1906, in Canton. He preceded her in death in 1915.  Survivors are her son John M. Kellam of Dallas a daughter, Mrs. C. W. Ashworth, Jr. of Dallas, two brothers Foster Hilliard of Canton and Dr. G. M. Hilliard of Jacksonville.
