County runners compete at district meet

The Canton Running Eagles finished first for the 10th consecutive year in the varsity girls division, and finished second overall in the varsity boys division, advancing both to the Regional Cross Country Meet Oct. 29.
Runners representing Brownsboro, Canton, Emory Rains, Mabank, Van and Wills Point made their way to Canton Monday morning, competing in the District 13-4A Cross Country Meet with a chance to advance to the Regional Cross Country Meet on the line.
Varsity Boys
The Mabank Panthers finished first overall as a team in the varsity boys division, finishing with seven runners among the top 14 finishers. Mabank finished with 28 total points, ahead of second place Canton with 37 points and third place Wills Point with 83 points. All three teams will run again at the Regional Cross Country Meet Oct. 29.

Results for Van runners included: Austin Slenk, 20th; Daniel Du Preez, 21st; Pearson, 26th; Caleb Parker, 28th; Jernigan, 37th
Results for Wills Point runners included: Aidan Phillips, 10th, 18:58; David Umana, 11th; Adam Shorter, 17th; Ricky Navarro, 18th; Cade Davis, 27th; Edwin Figueroa, 30th; Matt Mayfield, 32nd
