At the VZC Library, everyone is family
Rhonda Adams
Families, by Google definition, is “a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household.”
In modern times, this may be far from true. People have many ways of defining a family and what being a part of a family means to them. This week’s Storytime will focus on families.
The volunteer profile this week is about someone who puts in many hours of preparation for her job as Storytime coordinator, Rhonda Adams.
Her interest in the library began when she brought her kids to Storytime and when they entered school, she was asked to take over the program.
Mrs. Rhoda is a stay-at-home mom and holds a bachelor's degree in communication. Her library work includes the Storytime once a week plus putting a craft together to total about 2 or 3 hours weekly.
She said her favorite part of volunteering at the library is the kids.
“My favorite part about volunteering at the library is the kids. I love bringing books to life and watching their faces as I read. The smiles and hugs are the highlight of my week.” Her least favorite part is when the children leave the program to attend kindergarten. After watching them grow from to toddlers to age 5, she said really misses them.
