Services for Wanza Lou Lovell Pennington, 93, of Canton, were held Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Moore officiating. Burial followed at Holly Springs Cemetery.
Ms. Fountain died peacefully November 7, 2016, at home with her family by her side.
She was born March 2, 1923, in Ben Wheeler to the late Tullie O. and Lottie Mary Pennington.
She grew up in Van Zandt County and graduated from Van High School and East Texas State College, Commerce, with a B.S.M. Ed. She taught for 36 years in the Dallas Independent School District and retired in 1982. Wanza was a life member of the Retired Teachers, Friends of the Library, Texas PTA and National PTA. She was also a national and local member of AARP. After retiring she stayed busy with volunteer work in different areas of education, community and social services, but primarily in nursing homes where she performed with a country and western/southern gospel band.
She remained active with other community and senior citizen activities and events. Wanza was a charter member of Lakeside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She also played the piano for the Spanish Baptist Church for 11 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Paul Lovell; sons, Paul Dwight Lovell, Harvey Glenn Fountain; and sister, Mary Wallace.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Deanne Lovell of Canton; brother-in-law, Stan Wallace of Midland;
grandchildren, Lisa Lovell-Black and husband, Tony McKinney of Canton, Darrin and Tena Lovell of Forney, Lance and Christy Lovell of Garland and Teresa Wall of Burnett; great-grandchildren, Tori and Trevor Black, Gabrielle Cantu, Raigan Huston, Kaylee and Jackson Lovell, Michael, Kyle and Seth Wall;
four great-great grandchildren, Addison Black, Ayden Black, James Hardin V and Payton Cantu.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Van Zandt Veterans Memorial in memory of her beloved sons, Paul D. Lovell and Harvey G. Fountain, and to Memorial Lakeside Baptist Church Building Fund.
