Golfers open new season in Longview

The Canton High School golf team kicked off its 2017 season this week, sending three varsity boys golfers to compete at Wood Hollow Golf Course in Longview Jan. 30 as part of the Spring Hill Invitational.
The Canton contingent performed especially well, with Matthew Allen carding a 75, Patrick Malouf a 79 and Will Huddle an 84.
Coach Paige James noted, "Each boy started their senior season very well and we are looking forward to a great season. We will play again Monday, Feb. 13 at Cedar Creek Country Club, with boys and girls competing."
Canton will participate in numerous tournaments throughout the East Texas area, including hosting the annual CHS Invitational Tournament at Van Zandt Country Club March 20.
