Stanley W. Dupree Sr.
Stanley W. Dupree Sr.
1950 - 2016
Stanley Dupree departed from this life to be with his Lord on Oct. 21, 2016. He was greeted by those who had preceded him; parents, Inez and R.S. Dupree; sisters, Nona Dupree, Bernice Hartley and DeNell Hartley; brothers, Donald Woolsey and Claudie Earl Woolsey. Also to show him the best fishing spots was father-in-law, Wayne E. Davis; son-in-law, SSgt Steven W. White; and nephew, Teddy Ray Hartley.
He left behind his loving wife of 49 years, Wanda J. Dupree and their four children, Stan Dupree, Ramona Gaskin, John Dupree and Laniece Jones; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren plus one on the way; two brothers, Sonny Dupree, Richard “Dink” Dupree; sister-in-law, Linda Dupree; a loving sister, Debbie Masters; brothers-in-law, James Masters and Jerry “Butch” Hartley. Additional family are mother-in-law, Fay Davis; two brothers-in-law, Richard Davis, Mike Davis and sister-in-law, Leslie Davis; close family friends, Bo and Christy Adkison and Miss Jean Schultz.
He lived in Canton for over 40 years where he raised his family, fished, hunted and helped others in need. He lived, loved, laughed and made friends with most people he met.
He believed that when this life on earth was over there would be another one waiting for him. He would be “sitting on the dock of the bay” fishing in the clearest waters or helping someone find their way along life’s road.
We the family would love to thank all of those for their prayers and words of comfort. Also a big thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at ETMC in Tyler and ETMC Cancer Institute of Tyler for all the support and patience they showed to him and to us.
He didn’t want any type of service, but a celebration of life around his birthday instead. We will be celebrating his life June 9-11, 2017. At 3 p.m. Saturday, June 10, we will have a covered dish lunch in his honor just the way he wanted, with fishing, volleyball, card games, a waterslide and much more.
