American Pickers take interest in Canton
American Pickers Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz are longtime "pickers" or as they call themselves "modern day archaeologists,” and are currently searching for their next location to ‘pick.’
Van Zandt Newspapers received a call earlier this week asking for the word to be put out to Van Zandt County residents that the show is looking for people with barns, warehouses, properties or buildings full of odd, unique and interesting items.
“American Pickers” is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique ‘picking’ on the History channel. The hit show follows Mike and Frank, two of the most skilled pickers in the business, as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques.
The Pickers will be coming to Texas in January and a media representative from the show stated that they “often reach out to local chambers of commerce, local leaders, collectors, and city officials for help in finding these kinds of people within the nooks, crannies and back roads of this big country. And would greatly appreciate if you could help us in our search for great "picks" in Texas. The dirty, rusty treasures and antiques they pull out of these places are not just given a new life; they're saved for future generations to appreciate. Along the way the guys meet the amazing people and interesting places that make America great.”
The Pickers have a list of what they currently are not looking for including farming / agriculture items, tools, glassware, appliances, tractors, crocks, stoves, or country primitives.
Those who have ideal picking locations are urged to call or email the show with leads. A. Rodriguez, a representative from the show, stated:

If you or someone you know has a large, private collection or accumulation of antiques that the Pickers can spend the better part of the day looking through, send us your name, phone number, location and description of the collection with photos to: americanpickers@cineflix.com or call 855-OLD-RUST. We're looking to line this people up in the next week or so, the sooner the better.
