Carlton Slay 1929-2015

Carlton Lee Slay, 85, of Edgewood passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman. He was born on Dec. 10, 1929, in Wolfe City to Oscar Vance and Marie Eoff Slay. Mr. Slay was of the Baptist Faith, and served for 10 years in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was the owner of Carl’s Lawn and Landscaping service for 36 years in Riverside, Calif. and the Dallas and Plano area. Carlton had a passion for motorcycles his entire life. He enjoyed his motorcycle trips with his brother James and was especially fond of the Honda Goldwing. He is preceded in death by daughter, Sherry Albarado and son, Carl Slay. Mr. Slay is survived by three children, Cecelia Griffin, Tom Slay and wife Charise and Tony Slay; eight grandchildren, Eric Hill, Phillip Hill, Jessica Slay, Amber Humphries, Janet Albarado, Michael Albarado, Gina Slay, and Erin Slay; five great-grandchildren, Harper Hill, Searra Anger, Samantha Anger, and Seith Humphries; brother, James Daniel Slay and wife, Barbara; sister, Nelda Jo Stinson; niece, Debbie Socolick; and nephew, Doak Slay, Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at R.W. Owens and Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City with Brother Joseph Leach officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City with Eric Hill, Phillip Hill, Ben Hill and Michael Albarado serving as pallbearers. Online condolences may be left at owensandsonfh.com
