The Canton Eaglettes 2015 softball season came to an end at home on May 8, with an 11-4 loss at the hands of the Pleasant
Grove Lady Hawks. The win completed a two game sweep by the Lady Hawks over Canton in the best-of-three Area round playoff series between the two teams.
In game one of the best-of-three series on May 7, Canton struggled mightily on offense as Pleasant Grove’s Madison Haltom carried the Lady Hawks to a 3-0, perfect game victory over the Eaglettes.
Haltom went all seven innings for Pleasant Grove, striking out 12 batters without allowing a single Canton batter to reach via a hit, walk, hit by pitch, or error in the win.
The spectacular performance by Haltom overshadowed a great performance by Canton’s Jenna Stanley, who allowed just five hits and two earned runs through her six innings on the mound in the loss.
Both teams returned to the diamond on May 8, with Pleasant Grove fighting back from an early deficit to pick up an 11-4 win.
Canton did most of its damage in the bottom of the second inning, scoring three runs for an early lead.
