Wouldn’t you like to fly in our beautiful balloons?
Well, I’ve been writing about it for months now and if you haven’t heard … there is a balloon festival coming this weekend to the west side of the First Monday grounds.
If you haven’t heard, the city of Canton will be hosting the Fourth Annual Tailwind Regional Balloon Fest on the west side of the First Monday ground this Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16.
Festival entry will cost $10 per adult and anyone 12 and under will get in for free. On Friday, we will open the gates at 4 p.m. giving you just enough time to round the kids up and get out there. You can expect to see numerous food and craft vendors as well as bounce houses, a petting zoo and so much more.
At 6:30 p.m. there will be a performance by Breaking Southwest, and if the weather is good to us, at about 7 p.m. you can expect to see some balloons taking off into the evening sky.
If you stick around a little later than that, you will see some balloons light up in what is known as a balloon glow, however, Saturday night’s balloon glow will be much bigger.
At 9:15 p.m. Friday, we will start the 5k glow run just inside the unreserved section of First Monday (just north of the Civic Center).
On Saturday, come out early to experience an epic Battle of the Bands and Singer/Songwriter competition that will literally start at 2 p.m. (when the gates open) and go nonstop until the balloon glow (starting at 8:30).
