Declutter and Destress

Spring is here.  We can emerge from our self-imposed hibernation and open the windows to let in some fresh air.

Now, we’ve all heard the saying ‘April Showers Bring May Flowers’ reminding us that even the most troublesome situations can have positive outcomes.  The same goes for spring cleaning.  While it isn’t something we necessarily look forward to, the cleaning and de-cluttering itself is therapeutic: it makes us feel better and more productive. 

If you are a senior faced with clearing out a lifetime of accumulated things to move to a smaller, more manageable home, or perhaps a senior living community, it can be a daunting and overwhelming experience.  If you are a caregiver, this could mean a tough conversation with your loved one on the crucial need to downsize.  Getting rid of possessions that hold precious memories of their past is difficult for anyone and it is especially distressing for the elderly loved ones in your life.
