Bridges to be in concert at Straw Hat Dinner Theater Saturday

Saturday, July 25, gospel singer Michael Bridges of Forney will be in concert at the Myrtle Springs School as part of the Straw Hat Dinner Theater.

The concert will consist of gospel and country songs.

Bridges was raised in Allen and is a graduate of Dallas Baptist University with a degree in music. He also attended Southwestern Theological Seminary. Currently he serves as worship pastor/minister of music at First Baptist Church of Sunnyvale.

Bridges travels all over the area with the band Living Proof for concerts, camps, revivals and retreats “sharing the Christ through music and testimony,” alumni member Tresea Stringer said.

He has appeared at Lakeside Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church and the Convention Center in Canton; the high school and First Baptist Church in Wills Point; Van High School and other venues in the area.

Bridges is married to the former Debra Griggers, who is a daughter of an alumnus of the old Myrtle Springs School. The couple has three daughters and three granddaughters.

As part of the evening, a silent auction will also be held. Bidding will end at the close of the concert. “Many nice items will be offered,” Stringer said.

The Myrtle Springs School is located on VZ CR 3447 off Hwy. 64 in Myrtle Springs.

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with the concert to follow.

Prepaid reservations are required and can be made by calling Pat Smith at 903-873-3263, Tresea Stringer at 972-365-4673 or LaRea Miller at 903-865-1010.

All proceeds from the event will go to repairs and renovations of the building.
