Begin with the end in mind

In Stephen Covey’s book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, he struck a nerve with me in my walk to be healthy. On June 12, 2006 I made a decision to walk every day. At that time my blood pressure was still bad. It was down from 204 over 105 but I was still relying on expensive pills. My great Doc was advising me to do better with my dieting and my exercising and my sleep habits. That day I started to practice what I have been preaching as a goal setting motivational speaker, teacher and entrepreneur. Start every day with the end in mind. 

Ninety nine percent of me being smart is knowing what I am dumb at. I am dumb about a lot of things. Today I only take advice about my health and wellness from athletes and specially trained past and present military who walk the talk, not those who jibber jabber a bunch of talk.  I ask many questions about what athletes do personally, not what they tell others to do. Three things stand out: First, they are incredibly accountable to themselves. Second, they are constantly tweaking their skills. Third, they begin with the end in mind. The word “visualization “comes to mind. They are consistent.
