Walking With Bob
OK to fail but not OK to quit
The first three days of the week were out of my control. Bad weather, unexpected visits and a change of plans at work. These are things that just happen. Our routine gets wacky.
My routine is set. I am up at or before 4 a.m., have a protein milk shake, read and study for thirty minutes, walk briskly for two miles, eat cereal loaded with almonds, fresh fruit, and soaked with almond milk, have an energy drink, and answer my email before 9 a.m. This daily routine is now perfected since June 12, 2006. Well, for three days this last week I failed. This routine fell apart. It went kaput.
We had an emergency. Hold on. It turned out A OK. I woke up a midnight, left town quickly, took cat naps as we moved thru various situations, came back to town to let the cat out, then back out of town again. This went on for two days. The family emergency problem was solved and the results were great. But my routine failed.
I did not get seven or more hours of sleep a day for three days. There were no protein milk shakes or healthy cereals with almonds, my email was not read, and I gained five pounds in four days. That is big time failure. The emergency took precedence over routine, and that was cool with me.
