Would your child be safe in a car crash?

Sept. 13-19 is National Child Passenger Safety Week

Every parent wants the best for their child, but when it comes to keeping their child safe in the car, there is often confusion surrounding which car seat is safest and how to use it correctly. Even though the majority of parents buckle up their children in car seats, booster seats, or seat belts, most do not use them correctly.  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 3 out of 4 child safety seats are not used properly, which is a grave risk when traveling. Correctly securing your children properly in age- and size-appropriate child safety seats — in the back seat of a vehicle — is the most effective way to protect them in the event of a crash. In vehicle crashes, car seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71 percent for infants and by 54 percent for toddlers. This year National Child Passenger Safety Week will be celebrated from September 13-19th and provides an opportunity for parents to make sure they are transporting their children safely.
