Funeral Services for Dr. M. Wayne Humphries, 80, of Tyler were held Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Wayne passed away on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, in Tyler.

He was born April 5, 1935, in Small to the late James Thomas (JT) Humphries and Robbie Hindman Sanders. 

Wayne graduated from Edgewood High School, received his degree at Baylor University and graduated Baylor Medical School of Dentistry in 1968. He practiced dentistry in Tyler for 41 years and received the Texas Dental Association 50-Year Award and the Crystal Smiles Award in 2009.

Wayne was the president of Kiwanis Club of Smith County, president of Smith County Dental Society, a life time member of NRA, National Wild Turkey Federation, Buckmasters and Ducks Unlimited.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting sports and loved the outdoors.

On May 10, 1957, he married Dorothy Patton in Bellmead. They were blessed with three sons.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy Patton Humphries of Tyler; sons, Stuart Humphries and wife, Jamie of Noonday and their children, Ashley, Khylie, Drew, Noah, and Landon; Brian Humphries and wife, Jennifer and their children, Heather and Trevor of Buffalo; and Brad Humphries and wife, Darlene of Decatur and their children, Rachel and Rhett; brothers, Tommy Humphries and wife, Martha of Edgewood, Bob Sanders and wife, Rae of New Orleans, La., and Jimmy Humphries of Edgewood; sister-in-law Melanie Mayfield and husband, Mark; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ethel Brown and Tom Humphries.

Pallbearers were James Humphries, Don Poe, Clay Weaver, Danny Reeder, Barry Dagnel, Kevin King, Trant Kidd and Stuart Swenson. 

Honorary pallbearers were Claude Jenkins, Wendell Denman, Wayne Fisher, Clyde Weaver, Lewis Cobb and Carl Wynn.
