Have you ever wonder what 4-H has to offer?

Extension office hosting orientation event Thursday

Are you concerned about the continually rising cost of the tuition at our state’s colleges and universities?

How do you feel about 2.3 million dollars being awarded in scholarships this past year?

If you like the idea of someone giving out $2.3 million in scholarships then you will want to enroll your child today in 4-H and start preparing them to apply for one of the many scholarship opportunities that Texas 4-H and Van Zandt County 4-H offers its members.  During the State 4-H Roundup this past June there was $2.3 million in scholarships awarded to 225 Texas 4-H Members.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office and the Van Zandt County 4-H Council will be hosting a             4-H Membership/Parent Orientation Kickoff Event at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Extension Office located at 235 E. Groves St. in Canton at 6:30 p.m.

Families are invited to enjoy a hot dog supper and learn about the many opportunities that 4-H has to offer.  There will be a parent orientation to provide valuable information to parents about the many different programs and leadership opportunities that 4-H can offer their families.

4-H Member Categories are Juniors: Grades 3, 4, and 5, Intermediates:  Grades 6, 7, and 8 and Seniors:  Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. Clover Kids begin with age 5.
