At the Myrtle Springs Park Sunday, Sept. 11, the Beard family met for a family reunion. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Kelly O. Beard and children, Neil and Bates, Bernstein Preston, Claudine Preston, Mr. and Mrs. W. Wane Scott. (more on this article on microfilm)
The death of Albert M. Gulledge at the home of his mother-in-law last Wednesday Sept. 7, ended a life of public civic and church leadership in his community of Ben Wheeler. He operated the cotton gin in Canton. He became ill early Wednesday morning and was carried to the home of Mrs. E. A. Heard where he died early in the night. (more on this article on microfilm)
The Hay family reunion was held at Myrtle Springs Park Sunday, Sept.11. An old fashion dinner was spread and enjoyed by the following: Mrs. Edith Cooper, Carla and Sammy, Miss Pauline Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy (unreadable), Jimmy Lon and Tammy, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Final rites read for Martha Cole. Services were held at Old Bethel Friday, Sept. 9, for the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Williams born Sept. 8, Hilliard and Sons were in charge of funeral arrangements.
