VFW Auxiliary changes name

In July, Post 9171 VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 9171 of Canton President Ann Mallow, Post Treasurer/Secretary Diane Farmer and member and Texas State-elect Junior Vice President Millie Holland traveled to Pittsburg, Penn., to attend the 116th National Auxiliary Convention.  

Also attending were (District 30 President, Peggy Johnston and District 30 Commander Randall Johnston, both from Seven Points Post 4376.

“While at the convention, it was voted to change the name of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of the United States Post 9171  –Canton’s number,” Farmer said. “All Ladies Auxiliaries were to do the same.

This change in name took effect Aug. 21 and now allows male relatives  –

spouses, sons and grandsons – of eligible Veterans of Foreign Wars veterans to join the auxiliary “and participate in the many programs done for the veterans and families of our brave, courageous and strong men and women who defend our country daily,” Farmer said.
