Waites to celebrate 70th anniversary

C.A. and Ann Waites will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Odd Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church Canton.  Hosts are family members.

The groom is the son of Gus and Emory Waites and the bride is the daughter of Elisha and Ollie Edwards.  They were married on Oct. 13, 1945, in Myrtle Springs by Bro. Duvon Stuckey at their pastor’s home.

They moved to Dallas in 1949 and returned to Canton in 1972 where they continue to live on their family farm. 

C.A. retired after 38 years at Dallas ISD.  Ann worked a variety of jobs and retired when C.A. did.

C.A. and Ann are faithful members of First Baptist Church Canton where he has served as a deacon and she taught Sunday School for many years. 

After retirement, they helped with church construction/remodeling via the Texas Baptist Men and also traveled to do mission work.

C.A. and Ann have one child, Melynda Green who is married to Rob Green of Cantonl; and two grandchildren, Lance Green and wife Hillary of Amarillo and Matt Green of Austin.

Melynda Green remarked, “Your presence will be the very best present, but we would welcome your contribution of a photo or note for their memory box.”
