Coaches release Superlative, All-District honorees

With the UIL State Volleyball Tournament winding down and all District 14-4A teams officially done for the season, coaches released their list of Superlative and All-District honorees last week.

As expected, Canton and Rains, who tied for the district title (the Eaglettes finished as the top seed by virtue of their win a tie-breaker), dominated Superlative honors.

Superlative recognition went to:

-MVP: Payton Williams, Canton

-Hitter: Lauren Gomez, Canton; Ashley Gowin, Rains

-Setter: Shelbi Sheppard, Rains

-Blocker: Corley Cole, Rains

-Libero: Courtney Slider, Canton

-Defensive Player of the Year: Courtney Luckett, Rains

-Newcomer of the Year: Hope Williams, Brownsboro

-Coach of the Year: Liz Ramsey, Canton

First Team All-District Honorees included:

-Brownsboro: Lexie Houston, Madison Montgomery and Amber Walker

-Canton: Lilly Nelson and Jenna Stanley

-Emory Rains: Charlotte Bradshaw

-Van: M'Kenna Daniel

-Wills Point: Claire Hiler, Emily Smith and Gaby Gonzalez

Second Team All-District Honorees included:

-Brownsboro: Leanna Walker and Macy Williams

-Canton: Iyanna Clark and Gillian Hanks

-Emory Rains: Kenna Kellam

-Van: Carlie Jarman and Mindy Vickery

-Wills Point: Kelsey James, Kamree Clark and Maddie Booth

Honorable Mention All-District Honorees include:

-Canton: Sarah Bell

-Van: Bailey Daniels, Cheyenne Sallee, Taylor Tallant and Makiah Dodd

-Wills Point: Hannah Price and Hannah Wright

Players were also recognized for their performance in the classroom with the announcement of Academic All-District team members. They include:

-Canton: Sam Gann, Payton Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, Gillian Hanks, Lilly Nelson, Kailey Fyfe, Jenna Stanley, Sarah Bell, Kaylie Nilius, Lauren Gomez and Courtney Slider

-Van: Jennifer Landaverde, Mindy Vickery, Kayleigh Ammons, M'Kenna Daniel, Courtney Goggans, Taylor Tallant, Allie Lloyd, Cheyenne Sallee and Makiah Dodd
