Bad weather forced the Classic on the Cane Marching Festival indoors in Natchitoches, La., late last month but the Mighty Canton Band still came away with a second place finish overall and three outstanding awards.
The Mighty Canton Band competed at the Classic on the Cane Marching Festival Oct. 31 in Natchitoches, La.
The contest had to become a standstill indoor contest due to the weather, with results being based upon music and visual performance, according to Band Director Mike Bartley.
The band won their class and received Outstanding Band, Outstanding Colorguard and Outstanding Percussion within their class. They also received first division trophies for the entire band, colorguard and percussion.
The Mighty Canton Band finished second out of the entire day and had the highest visual score of all bands, Bartley said.
“The band also got to see a performance of the Boston Brass as well as the NSU Demon band,” he said. “It has been a great season for the band with a lot of success at the contests in which they have competed. The Mighty Canton Band would like to thank the parents, administration, and community for all of the support they have received this year!”
