Funeral services were held Monday morning, Nov. 28, at 11 o’clock in Gatesvile for William Robert Haley. Mr. Haley was making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Tommie Jackson of Canton, at the time of his death. He passed away at the age of 80 years four months and 10 days on Nov. 26, 1869, in Coryell County. Mr. Haley was married to Zenovia Morgan and at an early age he became a member of the Methodist Church.
The Canton Herald today announces the forthcoming publication of a series of local children’s pictures yet to be taken. Arrangements have been completed with the Woltz Studios of Des Moines Iowa, a nationally known firm who specialize in children’s photography for newspapers, to take pictures and furnish the engravings. Expert children’s photographers for the studios, with all the necessary equipment for this specialized work, will be here Thursday and Friday, Dec. 8 and 9. The studio will be set up at the Baptist Church and will be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. There is no charge to the parents. There is absolutely no obligation to this invitation. There is no age limit. It is bonafied in every sense of the word. Parents do not have to be subscribers, nor even readers of this newspaper. Neither are they obligated to purchase pictures after they are taken. Those who want some additional prints may obtain them by arrangement with the studio representative when the select the pose they want printed in the Herald. You will be happy, afterwards, if you let your child or children participate, and very sorry if you don’t. The kiddies will have fun and mother and dad will be very proud to see their pictures in print later. Many will clip them out and preserve them until junior grows up. The Herald wants as many pictures as possible so don’t forget the date.
Completely re-designed and the engineered International trucks from International Harvester’s new L-line are being shown at the showroom of Coleman Bros. in Canton. The new International truck line consists of 87 basic truck chassis models designed to handle any type of hauling job, Gaston Coleman said. Mr. Coleman said the heavy duly L-line presented a completely new design in motor trucks, at once apparent from the massive front end to the smartly styled cab. He pointed out that many new mechanical and engineering improvements, designed to promote operating efficiency and economy were feathers of the new line.
CRADLE ROLL-Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Howell are the parents of a 7 and a half pound boy, born Saturday, Nov. 26, at Baker, Clinic in Wills Point. He has been named Grover Sidney. Mr. and Mrs. Truett Goss ofBen Wheeler are the parents of a baby boy, born Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Baker Clinic in Wills Point. He has been named Luther Daniel.
