The Wednesday Study Club met  Nov. 13, at the Van Zandt County Library’s Buchanan Room for their monthly meeting and program.

President Mary Ann Eblen opened the meeting with a Thanksgiving greeting.  “We are not only thankful for friendship, family, community, but also our country and for our freedom preserved by our military service men and women,” said Eblen.

Jean Griffith introduced her cousin, Dr. Jenkins Lorenzo Schley (Mike), who is a veteran of the Vietnam conflict.  He went to Vietnam in 1969 to 1970 and was assigned to the Third Medical Division Hospital for the Marines for 13 months, explained Griffith. “He shared many interesting stories of people he worked with and his Vietnam experiences,” said Griffith.

A business meeting was held, discussing old and new business before refreshments were served by hostesses Shirley McMahan, Mary Ann Eblen and Sally Medley.

The next meeting will be a tea party and tour at Roseland Plantation Dec. 16.  Members will meet at 11 a.m. at American National Bank in Canton with departure at 11:15 a.m.
