Edom TEA Party hosts open carry presentation

On Monday Dec. 14, Edom TEA Party hosted an event with Terry Holcomb Sr., Executive Director with Texas Carry of Coldspring, Texas at Edom City Limits. The presentation was designed to provide citizens of Van Zandt County with everything they needed to know about the new laws pertaining to concealed carry and open carry which will go into effect on January 1, 2016.

Texas Carry Inc. is an all-volunteer, non-profit, non-partisan grassroots organization devoted to protecting and improving the fundamental civil right to keep and bear arms in Texas. They exist only to work for our members and millions of Texas gun owners. They have no obligation to any politician or national organization. 

The goals of Texas Carry are to organize activities among members to advance Texas second amendment rights, effectively lobby the legislature and demand compliance of state and federal laws from local infringement.

Unlawful Sign Posting By a Governmental Entity which went into effect beginning Sept 1st 2015.

What is an unlawful Exclusion of a CHL holder by a governmental entity?

Sec. 411.209.  WRONGFUL EXCLUSION OF CONCEALED HANDGUN LICENSE HOLDER.  (a)  A state agency or a political subdivision of the state may not provide notice by a communication described by Section 30.06, Penal Code, or by any sign expressly referring to that law or to a concealed handgun license, that a license holder carrying a handgun under the authority of this subchapter is prohibited from entering or remaining on a premises or other place owned or leased by the governmental entity unless license holders are prohibited from carrying a handgun on the premises or other place by Section 46.03 or 46.035, Penal Code.
