The doorbell rings and your sister-in-law has this new diet on DVD and when you recruit a million friends you instantly become a trillionaire. My favorite is the elderly ex-athletes that will mail you five meals a day and you will lose a pound a minute. We all should know instant gratification won’t work. It did not work last year.
Last week, my main mentor, Darren Hardy talked about some pitfalls to getting important things accomplished. I will share my notes to why I am healthier right now than I was 60 years ago. I never quit looking for instant gratification until age 76.
Here is why it took so long to start a healthy living lifestyle. I expected too much, too soon. Trying to instantly change from bad habits to perfect good habits did not work. Too much discipline, becoming too ridged, and setting unrealistic goals are the sure ways to fail again. I remember setting out to lose 10 pounds in 10 days. I did it and then gained 15 back.
