Eagles start district with 49-31 win

Eagle players celebrated after a buzzer beating three-pointer by Chance Hyles gave the team a 30-13 halftime lead over the Tigers.
The Canton Eagles cleared their first hurdle in District 14-4A play on Friday night, outscoring Wills Point in three out of four quarters en route to a 49-31 win over the Tigers.
Defense was the name of the game in the first quarter for the Eagles as Canton held Wills Point to just one made field goal and three made free throws to build up an 11-5 lead.
Senior guard Chance Hyles helped spark the Canton Eagles to even bigger things in the second, knocking down four 3-pointers including a buzzer beater at the end of the quarter to carry his team to a 30-13 lead.
Wills Point put together its best quarter of the night coming out of the break, edging Canton by a 10-9 margin to pull to within 39-23 with eight minutes left to play.
