Renovations and reading at VZC Library

The VZC Library will be receiving a facelift in March.

The staff is preparing a mini library in the Buchanan Room while renovations are being done.

Some computers and books will be relocated while the 23-year-old carpet is being replaced with cleanable, attractive laminate flooring.

The City of Canton, with the cooperation of helpers from the county, has funded this badly needed improvement.

The job is monumental.

Consider all that goes into the effort of putting in new flooring. Efforts that consist of moving and storing all of the books, the insurmountable task of re-shelfing all of the books and putting everything where it belongs, moving all of the computers to the Buchanan room along with relocating the kiosks,  the checkout desk and administrative contents being moved.

But oh, how we will all enjoy the finished product!

Several groups meet regularly in the Buchanan Room.

Watch the newspaper and/or Facebook for changes that may affect your Library use.

While the renovation is going on, plan your reading to include some of the more thought-provoking books that you have intended to read, or re-read

Take “1984,” George Orwell’s unbelieveable book looks different in 2016 than it did in the late 1940s when it was released.  Find it in the 800 section of the library.

Texas and Van Zandt History would be less stressful, but rewarding.  Biographies of famous (and infamous) people are interesting.

Please support the staff of the library while this renovation is in progress.  Their regular duties are complicated, too.
