Services for O.T. Nelson, 92, of Canton were held Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Bro. Jay Gravis officiating.  Interment was at Able Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Nelson died April 30, 2016, in Grand Saline.

He was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Caddo, Okla. to Oscar Thomas and Betty McLaughlin Nelson.

He grew up working on a farm in Caddo Mills.  He served in the U.S. Army. In 1952, he moved to Mesquite and started Nelson Trailer Sales and Service.  He also worked for Ford Motor Company. After twenty years, he moved to Canton and became a rancher. He enjoyed working with his hands building bird houses, horses and ranching. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a member of the VFW.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margie Fern Bass Nelson; daughter, Patricia Ann Nelson; son, Larry Douglas Nelson; son, Jerry Thomas Nelson; son, O.T. Nelson, Jr. and three brothers, Merrell Nelson, Avis Nelson and Jimmy Nelson.

He is survived by his wife, June Nelson of Canton; grandson and wife, Jeffery and Tracy Nelson; granddaughter, Becky Nelson; great granddaughter, Tanya Nelson and sisters, Bobby Quassa and Betty Moon.

Pallbearers were Kenny Chase, Ken Kinsey, Dennis Strait, William Kimberling, Trey Kimberling, Casey Chase, J.D. Kinsey, Jeff Nelson, Chase Gravis, Aaron Gravis, Jason Jackson and Ryan Preston.
