Canton resident awarded Trustee Scholarship to Harding University
Emily Nicks of Canton received a Trustee Scholarship to Harding University, amounting to eight semesters of full tuition.
Nicks is one of 27 Trustee Scholars who will be freshmen at Harding this fall.
To be considered, candidates must score at least a 31 on the ACT or 1360 on the SAT and must have a 3.5 or higher high school grade point average.
Other areas of academic achievement, leadership and extracurricular involvement are also taken into account, and candidates are interviewed by a selection committee at the university.
Nicks will also be considered for admission into the honors scholars program.
"It will be exciting to see how these students will serve and in what leadership roles they will be involved," said Glenn Dillard, assistant vice president for enrollment management. "The fall 2016 freshman class may be the most impressive group of new students Harding has ever had. We can't wait for them to join the Harding family in August."
Harding is the largest private university in Arkansas.
