May 13, the Canton FFA Chapter held its annual banquet and awards celebration in the commons area of Canton High School.

Approximately 200 members, parents and supporters were on hand for a meal sponsored by the Canton FFA Booster Club and catered by the Canton High School Culinary Arts Department. A cake auction to benefit the Canton FFA Booster Club followed the meal, and generated more than $1,100.

When the student awards portion of the banquet began, 49 students were awarded the Greenhand FFA Degree.

Katy Berry and Evie Davis were awarded the Star Greenhand award, symbolizing the most outstanding first year Canton FFA members. Each of these young ladies has also received this award at the district level, and will soon have the opportunity to compete for Area 6 FFA honors.

Next, 31 students were awarded the Chapter FFA Degree, and D.J. Spencer was awarded the Star Chapter Farmer award, symbolizing the most outstanding second year Canton FFA member.

This award was immediately followed by the announcement that Ryan Todd will receive his Lone Star FFA Degree at the Texas FFA Convention in July.  Ryan was also awarded the Star Lone Star award, symbolizing the most outstanding Canton FFA member eligible for his Lone Star FFA Degree.
