Ida Virginia Garrison was born Jan. 8, 1928, in Dallas to parents, Charles Allen Garrison and Laura Helen Manigk.
She grew up in Edgewood’s Small Community and later graduated at Woodrow Wilson High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Harold Jones April 7, 1991.
She was vice president of First National Bank in Longview and worked for Citizen’s National Bank in Kilgore for over 30 years before officially retiring.
Mrs. Jones also taught banking and finance at Kilgore Jr. College in the 1980s and 1990s. Her greatest accomplishment and her life’s work was genealogy as she was the president of the Van Zandt County Genealogy Society. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Longview and Terrell.
She is preceded in death by stepsons, Larry Jones and Carl Shelby.
She is survived by her husband, James Harold Jones; daughters, Linda Ann Wheeler of Hawkins and Kathy G. Wright and husband, Dick of Tyler; grandchildren, Eric Nichols and wife, Sallie of Longview, Sierra Wheeler of Carthage, Kath-Lin W. Fry and husband, Karl of Gilmer; great-grandchildren, Mason, Rehgan and Lawson Nichols, Trey Wheeler and Logan and Donavan Watley; nephews, Charles Reeves and wife, Michelle of Forney and John Reeves and wife, Linda of Fort Worth; step-daughter, Helen Shelby of Edgewood; and step daughter-in-law, Patty Jones of Edgewood; stepson, James Ted Jones and wife, Molly of East Tawakoni; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
