Services for Ferman Harris Barrentine, 79, of Canton, were held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Hilliard Funeral Home in Van with Bro. Paul Barrentine and Dr. Billy J. Barrentine officiating. Visitation was held before the service. Interment was in Edgewood.
Mr. Barrentine died peacefully July 25, 2016, in Ennis. He was born Dec. 28, 1936, in Edgewood. He was born again late in life on March 13, 2013, and shared his faith and testimony with his grandchildren before his death.
He spent his life in Van Zandt County. He graduated from Canton High School and later attended Tyler Jr. College on a music scholarship graduating in business administration. He served in the Air Force in Korea as a meteorologist and was a member of the local Veterans of Foreign War Chapter 9171. He served the local community in the real estate business for over 30 years as owner of Barrentine Real Estate.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Farris and Edith Barrentine and brother, Allen Barrentine.
He is survived by his beloved siblings, Paul Barrentine and his wife, Toni of Canton, Joe Barrentine and his wife, Lesa of Italy and Margaret Barrentine of Italy. He is also survived by his children, Billy Jack Barrentine and his wife, Kenna of Canton, Serena Van and her husband, John from Angola, Ind. and Michael Barrentine of Lafayette, La.
His grandchildren are Austin and Hannah Van, Joseph Barrentine and Jeanifer Green, Robert Barrentine, Timothy Barrentine, Kayla Barrentine, Tessa Barrentine and Ricky Walker. His great-grandchildren are William and Anabella Barrentine, Taylor Stanbrough and Amira Barrentine. He is also survived by a host of loving relatives and wonderful friends too numerous to mention.
