Accidents stall I20, claim life

Truck crashes, burns on I20 last week 
An 18-wheeler carrying glass panels crashed and burned on I-20 shortly before 8:30 a.m. Sept. 7.
The big rig was traveling eastbound on I-20 near the Hwy. 19 exit when it left the roadway and took out a large portion of the guardrail before
landing in a ravine and catching fire.
According to emergency workers at the scene, the driver escaped from the cab before it burst into flames. The driver was taken to the hospital with
non-life threatening injuries. 
The driver told officials he had fallen asleep at the wheel, a witness said.
Mabank man dies on VZC road
A Mabank man died in a Van Zandt County single car wreck Sept. 8. According to information from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accidentoccurred at 12:18 p.m. Sept. 8 on FM 3080 about five miles north of Mabank. 
“Preliminary crash investigation revealed that a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up was traveling east on FM 3080 when for an unknown reason, the vehicle veered off the south side of the roadway,” DPS reports states. “The vehicle then traveled back up onto the roadway but the driver overcorrected to the right and over turned the vehicle. The Dodge rolled over, coming to rest upright partially on the roadway facing south.”
