Mathea Guild hears about ABC Room
The Mathea Guild met Sept. 8 at the American National Bank for the first meeting of the new year.
Shirley McMahan introduced speaker Karen Forester with the ABC Room.
Forester gave the group information on how the ABC Room operates. The ABC Room is an emergency resource and supply house for the Child Welfare Board.
When a child is placed in foster care, the ABC Room supplies him or her with three new sets of clothing, a blanket, pillow and stuffed animal. School supplies are provided for school age children.
Last year the ABC Room helped 87 children in Van Zandt County.
Anyone who would like to donate to this cause, the ABC Room is located adjacent to the Van Zandt County Sheriff Department on Hwy. 64 west of the Courthouse in Canton.
