Services for Carmen Hernandez White, 78, of Canton, were held Sept. 21, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Roger Hart officiating.

Interment was at Tidmore Cemetery in Van Zandt County near the Henderson County Line.

Mrs. White passed away Sept. 18, 2016, at her home in Canton with her husband by her side.

She was born March 14, 1938, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas to Elias and Carmen Morales Hernandez.

She was raised in Dallas. When she grew up she worked at Baylor Hospital for three years, then at Sears Roebuck on Lamar Street for 28 years until she retired.

She moved to Canton when she met her husband, J.C. White. They were married Jan. 2, 1980.  After retirement in 1990, Mrs. White and her husband spent several years traveling by R.V. with many of their friends. They enjoyed playing and singing music with groups all around East Texas. They performed gospel, old country and bluegrass music. She was the lead singer and bass guitar player. Her other hobbies and special interests included crocheting, puzzles, (especially of birds) and watching and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.

She was baptized at the Canton Church of Christ where she attended regularly until her health deteriorated. Her church family remained her special support group.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Carmen Morales Hernandez; daughter, Elizabeth Grace Roundtree; two brothers; and three sisters. 

She is survived by her husband, J.C. White; son, Benji Roundtree of Dallas; daughter, Rebecca Roundtree of Plano; stepson, Ricky White and wife Sharon of Canton; step-daughter, Linda Box and husband Stephen of Canton; numerous grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters.

Pallbearers were grandchildren Christopher Rose, Timothy White, Jeremy Treadway, Brian Box, Matthew White, and John Box.
